Pigment Blue 60 – Unique & High-Performance Pigment for Blue Color Space

Romesh Kumar
New Business Development Manager
Heubach Pigments

Millions of years ago, scattering of light by oxygen particles gave us abundant blue sky. Much later in 20th century, two pigment chemistries were invented, commonly known as Indanthrone (1901) and Phthalocyanines (1935) that produced blue hues by absorbing most part of the visible spectrum. The later developed phthalocyanine is more popular today due to much lower cost and overall utility in most coatings’ applications. Indanthrone blue is superior in technical performance but due to much higher cost is used in specific applications only.
